Setting Up a Custom Domain

Setting up a custom domain gives you a branded portal for your customers to onboard.

Please keep in mind that in order to add a custom domain, you will need to have access to update your site's DNS settings.

What is a custom domain?

A custom domain will allow your customers to use your own branded domain instead of Onboard's https://board.onboard.io/ domain for accessing their onboarding site.

Here's how to set it up:

  1. In your sites DNS settings, you'll need to set up a CNAME record to point to board.onboard.io
Here's an example in CloudFlare using onboarding.onboard.io as a custom domain (it's similar with other providers)
  2. Go to company settings and click on the Branding tab  https://app.onboard.io/settings/company?tab=branding
  3. Enter the domain you set up in the first step to use (ex. customers.onboard.io or onboarding.example.com)
  4. Save. Your custom domain is now pending. It will take up to 24 hours for the update to take place, and for Onboard to set up your domain properly.
  5. Add additional security TXT records to your domain DNS after it has been verified. You will be contacted by Onboard for this step to finalize your custom domain.
