Viewing and Using Dashboard Milestones

Once you've marked tasks as milestones and started completing them, you can view and analyze the data on the Milestones dashboard.

Access the Milestones Dashboard
  1. Go to Dashboard
  2. In the left navigation, select Milestones

You'll see your milestone progress, time-to-value metrics, and analysis across all projects.

Understanding the Dashboard

Milestone Progress Tiles

At the top of the dashboard, you'll see a tile for each milestone. Each tile shows:

  • Milestone name (e.g., "First Value Achieved")
  • Value % — The highest value rating that has been achieved

Example: If "First Value Achieved" has a 70% value rating and at least one project has hit this milestone, the tile shows "70%". If no value rating is set, it shows "—" (dash).

Empty state: If no projects have hit a milestone yet, the tile may show "0%" or be grayed out.

Time to Value Metrics

The dashboard shows how long it takes for customers to reach each milestone:

  • Median time (in days) from project start to milestone completion
  • Trend line showing how this has improved over the last 90 days
  • Benchmark callout: "Top performers: X days | You: Y days" — showing how your speed compares to your best projects

Use this to identify bottlenecks. For example, if the gap between "Setup Complete" and "Integration Complete" is 12 days but other stages are 3 days, you know where to focus improvement efforts.

Drop-Off Analysis (Funnel View)

The dashboard shows what percentage of your projects reach each milestone:

Kickoff → 100%

Setup → 92%

Integration → 61%

First Value → 48%

Operational → 32%

This tells you where customers typically get stuck. In the example above, the biggest drop-off is between Integration and First Value (a 13% loss). This is where your team should focus attention.

Date Range

The dashboard shows data for the last 90 days. This covers a representative window of your recent onboarding activity.

Edit Milestone Value Ratings

You can update value ratings directly from the dashboard:

  1. On the Milestones dashboard, click Edit thresholds (or a similar button)
  2. Adjust the % value for any milestone
  3. Click Save

The metrics update immediately to reflect your changes.

Add Milestone Widgets to Your Main Dashboard

If you want to see milestone metrics on your main Dashboard homepage:

  1. Go to Dashboard (main dashboard, not Milestones)
  2. Click Customize
  3. Click Add KPI
  4. Search for or select a milestone widget (e.g., "Time to First Value")
  5. Add it to your dashboard
  6. Click Save

Common milestone widgets include:

  • Time to [Milestone Name] — Shows median days to reach a specific milestone
  • [Milestone Name] Completion % — Shows % of projects that reached the milestone
  • Time to Value — Shortcut for "Time to First Value"
Using Milestone Data to Make Decisions

Identify Stuck Accounts

Look for projects that are taking longer than your median time to progress. For example:

  • Median time to Integration: 10 days
  • Customer ABC: 25 days in Setup

This tells you Customer ABC might need support to move forward.

Spot Trends

Review the trend line over 90 days. If your time-to-value is increasing, your onboarding process may be getting slower. If it's decreasing, your optimizations are working.

Benchmark Your Team

The dashboard's benchmark callout tells you how your speed compares. Use this to motivate your team and set improvement goals.

Example: "Our median is 21 days to First Value. Top performers are at 9 days. Let's aim for 15 days by next quarter."

Understand Your Funnel

The drop-off analysis shows where you lose the most projects. Focus your efforts on the stage with the biggest gap.

Example: If you drop from 80% to 50% between Integration and First Value, improve your "first value" experience.

FAQ

What do the value ratings represent?

Value ratings are your assessment of how much value a customer has received by each stage. They're optional and entirely up to your team to define.

Example:

  • Kickoff (10%) = We've aligned on what success looks like
  • Setup (25%) = We've built your config
  • Integration (50%) = Your data is flowing in
  • First Value (75%) = You've seen ROI
  • Operational (100%) = You're fully self-sufficient

Can I set different value ratings per customer?

No. Value ratings are workspace-wide and apply to all customers. If you need different ratings for different segments, you'd need to set up separate workspaces or categories.

What happens if I update a milestone's value rating?

Dashboard metrics update immediately. Historical data is recalculated with the new rating.

How far back does the dashboard show data?

The dashboard shows the last 90 days of milestone completions. This gives you a rolling window of recent activity.

Can I see milestone data for a specific customer?

The Milestones dashboard shows aggregated data across all projects. To see a specific customer's milestone progress, view their project directly (milestones are shown in the project timeline/task list).

Can I export milestone data?

Not directly from the dashboard in this version. You can:

  • Screenshot the dashboard
  • Export your project list and task data (which includes milestone flags)
  • Contact your Onboard support team for custom reporting

What if I don't flag any tasks as milestones?

Your dashboard will show empty data. Milestones only populate once you've started flagging tasks and completing them. Start small: flag the most important tasks in your key projects and grow from there.
